A few months after our wedding in 2017, my wife Valerie and I, along with my eldest child, travelled to Hong Kong for two subsequent wedding celebrations with both sides of her family. Valerie moved to Canada with her family when she was only six years old but still considers HK home.

Photographer Saul Leiter once talked about taking most of his pictures and doing his best work "close to home," but sometimes a place can be emotionally close to home. All of these images felt close to home because of my closeness to Valerie and her love of her hometown.

I took all these pictures with a Ricoh GRD point-and-shoot and a Canon m10.
